Figures provided to Rob have shown that Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service are at the forefront of Value for Money, localism, performance and innovation. For example:
- 37.67% reduction in primary fires since 2003
- 52.86% reduction in small fires since 2003
- 2nd highest performer nationally in recruitment and retention of females
- 3rd highest performer nationally in recruitment and retention of individuals from ethnic minorities
- £3,866,000 saving since 2005, the equivalent of 10% of the 2005 budget
- 270 deaths & injurites in 1998/99, reduced to 41 deaths in 2009
- First fire and rescue service to publish all spending over £500
- Removal of beds has led to 36,000 hours reinvested into community safety activities
- A commitment to Community Fire Stations has resulted in seven stations being refurbished and 3 built in recent years
Speaking after learning of these figures, Rob said "I was aware of the great work being done by the Fire and Rescue Service before I learnt about these figures, but they really show the scale of the improvements that have been made and what a great service we have in Staffordshire.
"I would like to congratulate everyone at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue on these figures and their continued work keeping the people of Staffordshire safe."
