‘DON’T threaten the future of England’s regional airports’, Rob has warned the Davies Commission, hours before it publishes its long-awaited report on additional airport capacity in the South-East.

Rob, who leads the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Freight Transport, spoke as the independent panel prepared to reveal its verdict on three short-listed plans: a new Heathrow runway, an extension to an existing Heathrow runway, or a new Gatwick runway.

I AM grateful to have the chance to speak on the contents of the Gracious Address, on what it is likely to mean to my constituents, on what should have been included, and on what my constituents need from this Government.

Of course, the speech contains a lot of warm, but ultimately hollow, words. It talks about ‘One Nation’, opportunities for those who are disadvantaged, boosting the economy and bringing the country together, but warm words often hide harsher realities, and sadly this legislative programme is no exception.
